Keep Your Engine Cool with a Radiator Flush

A healthy cooling system is essential for keeping your car running smoothly and preventing costly repairs. Flushing your radiator removes old coolant, debris, and deposits, ensuring optimal engine performance. This simple maintenance task can be done in just five steps.

Directions for Usage

Locate the Radiator

• Open the hood and find the radiator (finned metal near the front)

• Identify the radiator cap, usually labeled “radiator coolant”

Drain the Radiator

• Find the drain valve or lower hose with a clamp underneath the car

• Place a drain pan underneath, then open the valve or loosen the clamp

• Allow coolant to fully drain (at least 10 minutes)

Flush the Radiator

• Close the valve or reattach the hose securely

• Fill the radiator with distilled water, replace the cap, and run the engine for 10–15 minutes

• Turn off the engine and drain the radiator again

• Dispose of old coolant safely—keep away from children and pets

Add Fresh Coolant

• Check your manual for the required coolant volume

• Fill the radiator with a 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water (or use premixed)

• Fill the overflow tank to the service line

• Start the engine, run for a few minutes, and check for leaks

Top Off Coolant

• Turn off the engine

• Add more coolant/water until visible in the overflow tank

• Top off the overflow tank to just below the service line
